Grand View University’s Student Life Office includes student involvement outside of the classroom. Student Involvement at Grand View includes clubs and organizations, and student leadership.

Overview of Position

This position would support our strategic plan. For Grand View to truly be a School for Life, it is critical that students feel a sense of belonging. A GA will enhance the support to four student leadership teams and also assist in growing Skolfest and other student engagement opportunities. By offering more targeted and robust student engagement opportunities, there is a great likelihood that enhanced belonging will positively impact retention (a critical aspect of Vitality).

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for planning and executing high-quality student events, including but not limited to large evening and weekend social events, films, family-friendly programs, service programs, annual campus traditions and festivals.

2. Assist in advising and supporting Student Activities Council (SAC), the student programming board comprised of 6-8 student leaders.

3. Provide leadership, support, and coordination to help ensure a unique range of campus activities, meeting the needs of a diverse campus community.

4. Assist in advising and supporting Student Leadership Team (SLT), comprised of 6-8 student leaders. Provide support and assist in growing student leadership at Grand View.

5. Research best practices in campus activities and student engagement, offering refreshing and innovative updates to the programming ethos at Grand View University.

6. Provide support to student leaders in the coordination of Skolfest.

7. Research best practices in Little Free Food Pantries on college campuses and enhance partnerships and awareness for the food pantry.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.

  • Requires clear communication skills and desire to work with college-age students.

  • Candidate must have excellent project management skills, including flexibility, problem solving and leadership development skills.

  • Must be enrolled in a Grand View graduate program.

Compensation & Hours

  • 20 hours/week assistantship (fall & spring semesters)

  • $2,000/semester

  • 100% tuition remission for Grand View's graduate program (Note: If GV pays more than $5,250 in educational assistance benefits for you during a calendar year, you must pay taxes on the amount over $5,250. GV will include this information on your W-2.)
