DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS & COMPUTER SCIENCE

FACULTY POSITION IN STATISTICS

POSITION: OPEN RANK FACULTY OF STATISTICS

EFFECTIVE DATE: Fall Semester, 2025

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s in Mathematics, Statistics or similar field with preference of Ph.D. Rank determined by experience and credentials. Tenure track position for Ph.D. candidates and Professor of Practice position for non-Ph.D. candidates.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: a commitment to teaching excellence, an active program of scholarship appropriate for a Liberal Arts institution, and prior successful teaching statistics at post-secondary level. Experience leading curriculum is a plus.

DUTIES: The department currently has a minor in Statistics and a Data Science major along with support courses in statistics for the general education and Business Analytics. This new hire would be the lead for all statistics courses. They will be expected to teach some of the sections of the general education statistics courses and most (if not all) the upper division statistics courses. They will be in charge of making appropriate changes to the curriculum. We are open to candidates with a Math degree with a strong statistics background.

The candidate will be expected to support the mission of the University. Other duties include active involvement in activities to stay current in their field, maintaining an appropriate scholarly agenda, advising students, and University, professional and public service. There is also opportunity to teach service courses and contribute to the general education core beyond statistics courses.

All applications must include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching philosophy and scholarly interests that address the above minimum and desired/preferred qualifications, and copies of all transcripts that include relevant course work. Three to five reference names must be provided, at least a couple that could speak about teaching abilities.
