The Graduate and Professional Studies Department at Grand View University seeks to fill an on-campus full-time tenure track position for an assistant professor for its new Master of Science in Instructional Design set to launch in Fall 2024. This position will have substantial release time for administrative responsibilities in the Graduate and Professional Studies Department for assessment responsibilities and program management with an external partner.

This faculty member will have all the rights and responsibilities of other full-time faculty at Grand View University in similar leadership positions. A strong commitment to the academic success of our Grand View University Graduate students, including students of color, students with disabilities, students who are the first generation to college, veterans, diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and diverse sexual orientations.

The minimum qualifications would be as follows:

  1. An earned doctorate in related field, including graduate level coursework in instructional design.
  2. One to two years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
  3. Prior experience with course design and online teaching.
  4. Evidence of professional development and active contributions to instructional design community.
  5. Ability to work in a team setting, collaborating on projects.
  6. Familiarity with various instructional technologies used in the instructional design process.
  7. Clear understanding of universal design and accessibility in course design.

The preferred qualifications would be as follows:

  1. Three or more years’ experience as instructional designer in higher education, K-12, or corporate settings.
  2. Knowledge on incorporate virtual reality and gamification in instructional design.
  3. Experience with instructional design with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle.
  4. Prior experience with managing learning assessment.

DUTIES:

Successful candidates must meet a tenure-track faculty member's teaching, scholarly, and service expectations. These include the following:

  • Carry a workload of 24 credit hours per academic year; this includes teaching 12 credits hours per academic year, release time for overseeing the Master of Science in Instructional Design, and release time to provide other administrative duties in Graduate and Professional Studies, including managing external partnerships for other programs, assessing other departmental undergraduate majors, working with the Associate Provost to streamline campus online course development processes as well as develop new programs.
  • Engage in research/scholarly/continuing education activity appropriate to the discipline.
  • Actively participate in related professional organizations.
  • Advise up to 25 students.
  • Engage in university service.
